Richard Young is a professional photographer based in Las Vegas, NV, who

specializes in fine-art, fashion, glamour, and portrait photography. His career has

taken him around the country, working on assignment and teaching his methods to

other aspiring professionals. Richard’s images have appeared in Maxim magazine,

USA Today, Gaming Today magazine, and a variety of other print and Internetbased

publications. He has also created commercial images for some of the world’s

most luxurious casinos and resorts—and photographed a variety of celebrities,

including Diana Ross and Mary J. Blige. He is the author of Create Erotic

This book has been written because so many people buy digital cameras and never get

further than using automatic settings. It’s a real shame and although cameras are calibrated

to take acceptable images using this feature, the scope of real photography goes a long

way further than that.

The most common response from the photographers who contributed to this book, when the

concept was explained to them, was "I'd buy that". The aim is simple: to create a library of

books, illustrated with first-class photography from all around the world, which show exactly

how each individual photograph in each book was lit.

Photographic technique can only get you

so far. Technique by itself—without passion

or vision—is shallow and meaningless.

Cameras don’t take photos; people do.

That said, almost all photographers who

create effective photos have mastered their

craft.
